REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Manager, Liquids Operations.
Manages the Project Engineering Group within the Liquids Management Team.

SCOPE OF WORK
The Liquids Management Team is responsible for supporting the ongoing project activities associated with the extraction, gathering, fractionation, storage and transportation of natural gas liquids (NGL) throughout Canada. In this role, the Project Engineering Team Lead will manage the Project Engineering Group (currently 6 engineers) and associated contract engineering resources to provide engineering services for capital and maintenance projects.

The position offers an excellent opportunity for broad exposure and career growth associated with portfolio management and project selection for a wide variety of projects and other programs dealing with world scale NGL fractionation plants, straddle plants, storage terminals and pipeline operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in and lead the project engineering team to meet all corporate health, safety, and environmental goals.
  • Utilize the corporate Capital Value Process to evaluate opportunities and establish project protocols to achieve good capital productivity.
  • Plan and lead the project engineering team in development of contracting, purchasing, engineering design, construction, inspection and QC strategies, as well as the implementation and administration of associated contracts and activities for projects that the Project Engineering team executes.
  • Effectively and frequently communicate progress toward achieving project metrics to the Business Unit leadership team and other key stakeholders.
  • Perform post project appraisals, and communicate and apply lessons learned and best practices to other projects.

    KEY KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Experience and knowledge in the design, construction, and operations of pipelines, pump stations, NGL recovery, fractionation and storage facilities are critical for this position.
  • Ability to manage a team of project engineers and engineering alliance partners executing multiple projects over a diverse geography through various project stages is essential.

  • B.Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical) or equivalent P.Eng.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in project design, engineering, or management.
  • Demonstrated Team Lead capability.
  • Working level understanding of various aspects and requirements of all phases of the Capital Value Process and supporting project management and capital productivity tools.
  • Knowledge of design and construction standards.
  • Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders at various project stages.
  • Good resource and planning skills.
  • Ability to network effectively across the organization with a variety of professionals (Operations, Business Development, Supply, and Finance) as well as industry and regulatory professionals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability in English.
  • Can anticipate the type and quality of information needed by customers.
  • Proactive in communicating recommendations through the organization.
