Reports directly to the Canada Gas HSSE Team Leader Works closely with the leadership teams at each of the Operating Centres (OC) Six direct reports (4 HSS Advisors and 2 Environmental Advisors) who work in the Edmonton, Edson, and Grande Prairie field offices. SCOPE OF WORK
Provide leadership and direction to a multi-discipline team of HSSE professionals supporting Canadian Gas Operations. This is a high profile position that will deliver strong change leadership and performance management. Works closely with HSSE Team members and with plant managers and supervisors to bring about change and performance with regard to HSSE across the district. Requires excellent knowledge in corporate HSSE policies and procedures and the regulatory framework in both Alberta and BC. JOB DIMENSIONS
Provide HSSE support to four gas Operating Centres for Canadian exploration and production (E&P) operations. Travel to the various field operations to meet HSSE staff and Operations leadership. Interface with contractors and other HSSE staff working in Liquids, Occupational Health and Safety, Drilling and Construction, Projects and Central HSSE Functional teams. ACCOUNTABILITIES
Single point accountability for determining, developing and providing the skills, experience and subject matter expertise in HSSE to support Canada Gas operations to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations.
Provide strong HSSE leadership to promote a sustainable step change in HSSE performance and culture. Develop HSSE Plans driven by OC Operating Plans and Safety Improvement Plans. Reduce complexity by simplifying HSSE management systems, standards and practices underpinned by the transition to OMS and implementation of Control of Work. Provide relevant training and follow-up coaching/auditing to line employees with the objective of improving and simplifying the implementation of, and compliance with, HSSE systems, standards and practices. Provide resources for managing continuous improvement of contractor HSSE performance. Determine and develop the HSSE skills and experience levels required for Canadian Gas field operations, including the selection and managing of HSSE employees, contractors and consultants. Provide guidance in establishing HSSE performance contract targets and HSSE objectives for the gas operations field teams. Provide subject matter expertise to line employees to enhance compliance with corporate expectations and standards and relevant regulations. CANDIDATE PROFILE
10+ years of related experience in HSSE and/or operations is required. Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team as a team leader or senior member of a team. Technical experience should include oil and gas regulations, HSSE management systems, HSSE audit, crisis and emergency response, and training. COMPENSATION
